Red Wings GM: Fischer 'doing very, very well' |
DETROIT (AP) -- Red Wings defenseman Jiri Fischer was
"doing very, very well" Tuesday, a day after he collapsed on the bench and his heart stopped during a game.
"It's been a tough 12 hours for our organization," Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said at a news conference
at Joe Louis Arena. "The great news is that Jiri Fischer is doing very, very well."
Holland and team physician Tony Colucci -- who performed CPR to Fischer on the bench Monday night -- said the player
was "in good spirits." |

MINNESOTA WILD TO HONOR MEMORY OF FORMER PLAYER TEAM WILL MEMORIALIZE SERGEI ZHOLTOK
AT NOVEMBER 19 GAME
SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Minnesota Wild announced today that the organization will use the team’s Saturday, November 19 game against the Nashville Predators
to honor the memory of former Wild player Sergei Zholtok.
Prior to the 7:00 PM game against the Predators, a concourse display will be unveiled near Gate 3 that
will include a Zholtok story and memorabilia. A pre-game video celebrating his life will also be shown to fans.
Additionally, members of Zholtok’s on and off-ice family will be in attendance, and in his memory, both teams will wear
“SZ” stickers on their helmets. A photo of Sergei currently hangs in both the Predators and Wild locker
rooms.
Zholtok, a veteran of 588 NHL games, played in 210 games over the course of three seasons with the Wild
from 2001-2004 and collected 110 points (48-62=110). He appeared in 11 regular season contests and six playoff games
with Nashville in 2003-04. Zholtok died at the age of 31 during a game in his native Latvia on November 3, 2004, where
he was playing for HC Riga 2000.
